Dr. Floyd W. Davis was born in Richmond, Virginia, to the late Deacon Medrith R. and Deaconess Katie J. Davis.  He was baptized at age 7, and 11 years later he preached his initial sermon, becoming the youngest person ever licensed and ordained from the historic Cedar Street Baptist Church of God, Richmond, Virginia, under the leadership of Dr. Benjamin W. Robertson, Sr.

He received his Bachelor or Arts, Master of Divinity, Doctor of Divinity (honoris causa) and Doctor of Humane Letters Degrees from Richmond Virginia Seminary.  Dr. Davis also holds the Doctor of Ministry Degree from Bethlehem Bible College.  Dr. Davis presently serves on the Board of Trustees of Richmond Virginia Seminary.  He is the Assistant Dean of Bethlehem Bible College.

With over 30 years in the Pastorate, two of Dr. Davis' tenures most notable are People Union Baptist Church of King George, Virginia, and the historic Pilgrim Baptist Church of Chicago, Illinois, where Dr. Davis delivered the eulogy for Dr. Thomas Dorsey, "The Father of Gospel Music" and the writer of "Precious Lord - Take my Hand".  While in Chicago, Dr. Davis served as President of the Chicago Southside Branch NAACP, which has a membership of over 15,000.

Dr. Davis has preached in the Progressive National Baptist Convention and the Lott Carey Baptist Foreign Mission Convention and National Christian Education Convention.  He also served as Senior Pastor of High Street Baptist Church in Roanoke, Virginia.

Dr. Davis served as Chairman of the Committee for Community Preservation.  He is a member of The Baptist Ministers Conference, Roanoke, Virginia & Vicinity.  He is the past President of the National Christian Education Convention.

On September 24, 2000, Dr. Davis received the Key to the City of Roanoke, Virginia.

On Sunday, June 27, 2004, Dr. Davis became the Founding Pastor of God's House Baptist Ministry.
